I was drawn to paint this image because it’s a low vantage point which makes me feel like I’m in the flower bed. Being underneath the black eyed susan gives me a more intimate feeling that the usual view from above. I enjoy the bokeh (blurry, colorful circles) in the background, and found it challenging to paint them. They always give a sense of depth to an image. The bright yellows and golds always make me feel cheery. Prints available on Etsy!
I sent for a blank sketchbook from the Sketchbook Project a couple months ago. Tomorrow is the day when I send it back to them in Brooklyn, NY to add to their sketchbook library.
